Dragonball is realistic that messing with a guy's paycheck will make them go after Goku. Gero wanted to destroy Goku cause he ended the red ribbon army and is friends with the Briefs. Freiza still had henchmen who didn't go to Namek or fled but didn't have the manpower to revive him. Freiza is based off real estate guys.

Freiza got resurrected because Toriyama hated how Toei made Goku a paragon in the anime, the movies made him the boy next door, which strayed from his visit of Goku as a dumb muscle who wants to fight the strongest guy. He also didn't like Frieza being used as a punching bag. Freiza was born powerful to the point the heroes needed the hand of God to stop him hence way Gohan and Piccolo are back to Namek Arc in Super.

Was Gero friends with the Briefs?? I only remember Bulma mentions they knew where he had his lab. Also, I've never had a problem with Gero building such powerful androids. During the RR saga, Number 8 was already stronger than Goku, and if he truly studied ki and martial arts with that spybot, he would have surely been able to keep up with their power levels. Not to mention, Earth (?) science was nothing sort of amazing, creating hoipoi capsules that could bend space in such ridiculous ways. Surely that level of tech could produce something like the androids, if all that raw physics-bending power was used for something else.

Are you familiar with the concept of scary movies? People, parents or otherwise, go to the cinema to see way more gut-wrenching and scary things that whatever anyone could ever put on Dragon Ball. And those movies make money. Funny you should mention that, the saiyans were introduced as planet peddlers, slavers and genociders for profit. Raditz has a like, 12 page exposition dump where he explains their systems for planet erradication and sale in detail to his failure brother Kakarot. But yeah this is the posthoc rationale after the story had to continue and everything was set up in, but the way Raditz explains what saiyan do to their newborn highly suggests, when Toriyama wrote pic related, he hadn't thought of Frieza yet, he just got the landlord idea for an even fouler and stronger baddy than the thug-like saiyans. Even though I speculate the original one was probably the tiny Vegeta in comparison to the brutish, goon-like Nappa.

What's your point? They have insanely strong genes is the point, and recognizable looks. The fact they made Goku a bad guy in Super (Black) was cool. It was a great contrast to how much of a "hero" the real Goku has become by that point when Toriyama just wanted him as a muscle-headed idiot. Which Super also portrays perfectly but people shit on cause of the rushed animation job.

And it does it pretty well. The dragonballs always stay a crucial part of the story, even into Super and GT. They go from being used for panties to bringing a whole planet back by the end. The last wish being bring Goku to full power is a good resolution considering he's never used a wish for himself the whole time.
