Infinity War and Endgame were made like this and it worked out fine. There was no plan especially after they canned Whedon after Ultron underperformed. Gunn annnocing and canceling projects left and right shows he has no idea what he is doing and can't improvise like Marvel can. If Gunn can't improvise and build hype his DCU won't last long.

I think it's the opposite. Marvel will probably be safe next year and 2027 because of Avengers and Spider-Man but their future after that is at risk because all of their recent hits were staked on fanservice hype events using the multiverse, Thunderbolts and F4 were well-received but they were middling if not outright bombs which doesn't bode well for their standalone releases like X-Men.

DC at least has the advantage of being willing to greenlight smaller scale projects that don't cost hundreds of millions of dollars like Clayface (only $40 million budget) so not every entry in the franchise will bankrupt them, and they can slowly rebuild the reception of their brand.
