Serious advice: Google "most popular anime" and go down the list. Not everything popular is good, not everything good is popular, but the point is to get used to watching the first few episodes of a series or show and figure out whether you like it enough to keep watching.
Now, there are plenty of shows that take quite a long time to really get good, so you might watch the first few episodes and not be that impressed, and you might decide to drop that anime and start watching a new one. That's fine, and you might eventually go back and give those anime a second chance at a later date, or not.
Eventually, you'll find an anime that you love, and after you find one that you love and watch it, you'll want to watch more, maybe you'll find one you love and decide to watch everything else by the same creators, or the same studio, or maybe even ones that came out in the same time period.
The point is that by the time you've watched several dozen anime, at least a few episodes, you won't be a babe in the woods anymore, you'll be a lot more astute at picking out which anime you like and which you don't.
The big thing to keep in mind is that there are thousands and thousands of anime, and all of them have their good and bad points, and eventually, you'll be bored enough to give all of them a try, because the more anime you've seen, the more you'll realize that there's always another good one out there just waiting to be found. Just when you think you've watched all the good ones already and the only ones left are garbage, you'll stumble upon one that you absolutely love, love, love, and it'll be a total surprise to you. You'll realize that you can't always judge an anime by the name or the art style, or the plot summary, or even the first several episodes. Some anime are great at the beginning and the ending is a dud. Some are the opposite, take forever to get good, but once it's good, it's GREAT.
