I would probably prefer that, and there's no reason that Mr House couldn't have more relevance to a pre-war storyline, or have left instructions/a cyberpunk style copy of himself to survive the death of the actual House from the game.

The problem with the show fucking up the lore is a valid problem pointed out by autists that most people dismiss as being irrelevant but is actually a very significant long term problem for the show’s general quality regardless of its source material. You see, they are taking from and borrowing the setting of Fallout 1, 2, and New Vegas and setting it after those games, and in doing so are using locations, factions, characters, etc from the games by necessity. But the problem is when you fuck up the lore and ignore the established history, events, motivations etc for how the things you use in the story came to be in the setting, your story will inevitably fall apart because the world no longer makes sense. If the NCR’s capital was nuked in 2277, and all their influence in SoCal dissolved, how and why would they have ever remained in the far off land of the Mojave for years and battling Caesar’s Legion after that happened? Mr. House only has influence and only becomes a player in New Vegas specifically because the NCR has a developed, stable society which allows tourists to flood in and spend money at his casinos, giving him a place to negotiate from.

If the show will ever depict super mutants, how is it going to explain them? Super mutants in the west coast all originate from the master’s army, it’s a significant aspect of every single super mutant character. But how do you maintain this if the Master couldn’t have existed, given he never raided the extremely close by, openly visible vaults of 31-33? They would have been his first targets. And it goes on. I have no idea why they simply didn’t choose a new setting where these things wouldn’t become a necessary problem for them.

Nothing develops games are just one and done since they wrote shit to be very simple and have it be once you side with whoever and they take over nothing else happens on the region or really can happen. So they have to go west since it’s one of the few places that isn’t completely fucked. The TV show is doomed to becoming a pile of dogshit, even for a normie audience clueless about the games, because it simultaneously wants to use the setting and backstory of the west coast Fallout games and NV for its own story, but also actively ignores everything those games established to actually explain the setting. People sperged out about the NCR being essentially erased on a dubious timeline specifically because of how integral their existence is to the entire plot of New Vegas, now they’re setting it in New Vegas. It’s very strange. Like they’re putting all this focus on Mr House as this major character, but he literally only becomes relevant because of the NCR reintroducing a more advanced civilization. That’s one of the more interesting pieces of NV; Mr. House is from the Old World, he’s effectively useless and can’t do anything from his position post war and has to wait until a government comes along that can actually meet him at his level and negotiate, sign contracts, create deals etc. Once he has “civilized” people to interact with he is able to begin using his old world skills to maneuver and set up power plays. If you want to erase all of that from being a factor in the setting his character is no longer interesting or relevant, he’d just be a guy fucking his simulated waifus in virtual reality still like he was doing for the first 190 years of history post nukes.

In a better alternate world we could have gotten a TV show set in pre Fallout 3 DC that actually fixes the gaping plot holes and setting Bethesda shat out without touching the west coast which was already well written and coherent.
