Rewatching the original movie made me retroactively hate the show. It's such a beautifully simple and grounded crime story, while the series has become this increasingly nonsensical, extravagant, self-absorbed parody of prestige TV slop. I get Noah Hawley just wanted to homage the Coen Brothers legacy originally, but explicitly tying it into one of their more lowkey films and then taking it on these fucking fantastically absurd and heavy-handed tangents was such an odd choice in retrospect.
