Star Wars was meant to be family movies, particularly with characters and settings that can be rendered as toys and legos. So in that regard they are better than the Sequel trilogy.

Nah. Jar Jar sucks, kid Anakin sucks, the cgi sucks. The only kino parts are the lightsaber duel and pod race. The rest of the movie is a slog. Attack of the clones is worse though.

20 years ago i saw it in cinema, it was pretty cool.
Later my local store had a chip-packet promotion where you could win another free bag of crisps.
I won like 4 times in a row. Used to get free mars-bars contests or paddlepops, it was awesome.

Most memorable scenes were the fish chase, Gungans vs droids, Darth Maul & Anakin blowing up their ship in the starfighter. Podrace was dumb, most of them crashed & died mangled / blown to bits but Sebulba lived???

Also had the game on Playstation 1, it was bloody hard and i rarely made it past the Jungle level with all my lives.

All in all they really upped the ante

Jar-Jar is really the main thing that stands out as bad. George tried to make an R2D2/C3PO humorous character and it's just way too cartoonish.

Everything else is largely fine, except for Darth Maul being killed off

There is nothing worse than when an adult puts on a kids movie on past 20 without a child in the room that they have seen 100 times. I get revisting it if you don't remember it, but my manchild coworkers put this shit on for background noise because it comforts them like their binky. For reference, it is always the shitty prequels or they watch the clone wars tv show.
