It doesn't get really bad or really good at any point so it's better not to think too much about it while watching it. Just don't have any expectations about anything going anywhere. The tonal shift with Blessing was too rapid. He started as an almost laughable textbook "Magical Negro" character. They tried to transition him into something with a little depth through his mother's death, the ice bag incident, but it's too quick to be accusing Dexter of betrayal. Plus, the whole thing about Berkeley? (Dusky immigrants like him are guaranteed liberal/commie votes, because they wouldn't even be allowed here otherwise, much less bringing their whole families.)

It's all a little ham-fisted. Instead they should have used delicate fists, like the gargantuan but sensitive manpaws of John Lithgow.

Anyway, the OS villain was extremely weak and backwards. Like already explained, the motives were a let down, even if I can appreciate the motive isn't always something bigger than life. But everyone just shrugs how the captain apparently was a serial killer or at least a child kidnapper and nothing comes of it. Even Harry is just momentarily sad and says shit like "damn, we used to know each other for 20 years.. anyway let's go eat lunch".

People were expecting the thing to be a retcon where Dexter killing Harry's police captain friend is what drives Harry to suicide or something, but they just went extremely safe with the season ending. And I know there will at least OS season 2, they also knew by the end of OS season 1 so they might have had time to make some small edits to the finale and stuff.

If it was him, he'd have a whole thing about something happening 5 years prior.
And the main thing is his accent. We heard the ripper's voice. It wasn't Blessing. There's not going to be some reveal where it turns out he can do a perfect American accent. It isn't him and you're either retarded or a shill trying to throw off fans to imply it is.

Everyone hated Harrison in New Blood so they had to rewrite him to try and make people hate him less.
But also they didn't want to throw away the stuff they'd written for the planned Harrison spin-off show. So it comes off as inconsistent and half-assed. I honestly don't know what they're going to do with him. Killing him off is lazy and a repeat of everyone close to Dexter dying (leaving him no ties, again). Turning him back into a killer is just a repeat of New Blood. Maybe he'll just be a constant supporting character who does normal shit and gets married and raises a family while Dexter tries to be supportive.
(Even lets them do a dumb arc where Harrison's wife has a serial killer father/brother that Dexter isn't sure how to deal with)
