Tom Cruise. Often debased because of his offscreen eccentricities and how he has starred in many action films, but he actually is a thespian actor with great performances in Eyes Wide Shut, Magnolia, Lions for Lambs and Vanilla Sky, truly the last great movie star.

Sure he has been a part of films that are all time classics, performances which are terrific, but he’s also been in some terrible films too, and I think making money isn’t a good enough excuse to accept roles in films like “Dirty Grandpa”, “The Intern” and “The Big Wedding”. Total phone-in performances that add nothing to the creative medium.
