I went to a library once and got dragged out by the security guard because I got mad because I could only find a few books with pictures and they weren't even moving. Fuck those shitholes.
Books are retarded and you're retarded if you like them. Film is an inherently superior medium. We're likely living in the twilight of books - in a couple hundred years they'll be seen the same way we look at medieval paintings.

Two Towers is 100% pure kino. Fellowship is around 50% kino, Return of the King is where Tolkien clearly was to big to answer to any editor so the kino falls below 35%.
Love the Disaster Artist (the book, the movie was the pits)
Very different tone, but can highly recommend this and the follow up, great insights into movie making from the 60s through to the 80s, and reads as smoothly as any of his scripts

My copy of LOTRs has fucking gandalf on the front holding the ring in his palm. It's like the artist didn't even read it lmao. It's fancy old school fantasy hand painting but it's still FUCKING SHIT AN GAY compared to Tolkien's simple kino.
The Elves are White, beautiful, better than any other race and have great jeans.
The Numenoreans are White, taller, better than any other lesser Human races and have great jeans.
All Orcs are evil, ugly and have bad jeans.
Dwarves are greedy and love gold.
The woke libs call Tolkien and the Jackson trilogy racist.

You can literally see the obvious God symbolism in the book. Mankind fails, the hobbits fail, God has to step in to make sure it actually ends. Its all right there.
>>213922251 >Dwarves are greedy and love gold.
Not gold specifically, but they love fashioning gems and gold into beautiful jewellery. And throughout the Silmarillion and LOTR it was not just dwarves but elves, humans and hobbits too who fell in love with beautiful items. That's kinda a running theme in Tolkien's work and old European folklore as well.
>>213922320 >Not gold specifically
Wrong. >The seven rings of Power of the dwarves did not turn them to evil, but it did amplify their greed and lust for gold.

Fortunately Tolkien was "a certain level of competent". His drawings are frequently used in The Hobbit and his maps are printed in all of his books.

It's inspired by multiple things, you stupid fucking faggot. Also, I don't know if you read it, but there are no elves or dwarves in the bible and also no east asian people
>>213922590
It's also based on Norse mythology AND the Kalevala AND Beowulf and a bunch of other sources. Tolkien was focusing solely on a single reference.

No, he wanted to make it deeply, fundamentally Catholic (based on Hebrew mythology). No deeply Catholic person would show respect to pagan filth.
