Hey, I'm two episodes deep in NYPD Blue, and it seems pretty mediocre.
The guy who recommended it, was saying this and Homicide: Life on the Streets are where it's at and that The Shield was shit and HBO was shit.

You know what's shit? This bitch's fucking performance. In the first episode she sounds like she's reading her lines off a paper she's holding in her hands.

Does this show get good later on, like The Wire, or should I give up?

The show gets significantly better in season 2 when Caruso bails and is replaced with Jimmy Smits and you'll be pleased to know the character in your pic is basically never seen again. It's kind of like TNG where season 1 is the warm-up and season 2 is where they figure out what the show actually is

First few episodes are pretty rough. It really finds its footing in season 2 when Jimmy Smits joins.
Andy Sipowicz is a genuine top 10 character. Incredibly kino performance.

He's one of the greatest television and film writers of all time.
Give the show time faggot, it takes a minute for them to get it right.
