The point behind taking any job that requires manual labor, assuming you're a white guy, is to get some practical experience and knowledge, and when you know enough, and have saved up a little bit of money, you start your own business and become your own boss. That's the whole point behind most vocational training or education. The idea isn't that you're supposed to gain experience, work and rise through the ranks, then start your own thing.
Fast food jobs used to be the same thing. You weren't meant to be stuck doing that job for life. You take the job when you're young, to earn a bit of money and to get experience that you can slap on your resumé, or if you're really good at your job, you stick with it and eventually get your own franchise.
