The movie was good until this scene. Why did they have to make the Nazis so ridiculous and humorous? Why did they make Hitler a punchline?

The correct opinion to have of Nazis is that they were a bunch of faggot retards and got what they deserved, everyone with a properly functioning brain thinks this way, because it’s the objectively right way to think and perceive these stupid Nazi niggers. The answer is obvious of course. But something funny from when it came out was that one reviewer critiqued Kubrick for the character being German as low hanging fruit, and said it would be more interesting if the character was Jewish. (The critic herself was Jewish.)

German cinema was already hated by hollywood long before nazis. Berlin was overtaking them as the film capital of earth. ww2 helped cement hollywood as the goto place for cinema. also helped that most berlin film reels from the 20s/30s got firebombed
