I don't think all of the species came from the same planet.
Eventually, over multiple implantations, it would shape into the humanoid form of the Xenos we are familiar with.
I think the eyeball creature adopted the human eye shape to match how human eyes look. And the multiple irises to see in all directions when it is hunting or scared.
I don't see it as being as smart as the Xeno. Maybe canine intelligence.
The bugs, tick, plant, and eyeball were probably found early on.
The xeno has to have been last discovered.
The one black chick was pretty confident about feeding the bugs in the first episode.
The plant thing seems pretty immobile if you are standing ten feet away from it.
But coming across the xenos?
Once the Maginot crew figured out how to contain or restrain them, they must have said "Fuck it, we've lost most of our crew, let's go home."
The xeno is also the only one Morrow seems to give a shit about.
He saw the broken specimen cages in the lab, tied those two rescue guys up, got his taser gun and sticky web shooter, and went hunting for it.
He knew where the eggs were. He could have secured them, stolen a vehicle, loaded them, and escaped, leaving the Xeno there. Instead he captured it.
He knew the xeno was the most important. The other creatures are just novelties.
