When any of those precisely would be better than games if well adapted. I want to see the outbreak slowly happening. The murders casually happening on the city's mountains for a month or two, creepy dog sightings, the scientists working on the projects and the quarantine that happened in the mansion, rats infecting the water supply, etc..
In the games we mostly do cleanup and learn all the interesting shit in files. I wanna see what happened in those files, they're great stories.
RE4 backstory makes for amazing movies, first medieval horror with Knights first fighting Las Plagas, and later the cult first infecting the village little by little, the violence took years to scale up. At first they just did shady stuff as the village withered and the leader Mendez was desperate to find a way for his people to survive, doing sacrifices and shit. Focus on a Grandpa helping his little kid escape the madness as one file mentions.
