Have you heard of this pitch? It's basically Andor treatment for Star Trek set in the ST: ENT setting.
Basically Archer is President of the Federation and it's West Wing meets Homeland but with Klingons and Andorians. Probably TOS shit because of the proximity.
Federation was founded in 2161 and the 5 year missions was 2245-50.

So this is like peak Daedalus class era when Archer's in charge. It's *just* before the Connie era so you could go wild with pre-TOS post-NX style starships.
We're not exploring the frontier, but we're a weak foundling presence there.

Yeah I think it's just being pitched by the ENT writer and Bakula gave it a thumbs up, but Kurtzman's contract is terminating this year so I think people are aiming for what's next.

This is literally what Berman and Bragga originally envisioned for Enterprise's first season, albeit without Archer being president. They wanted the whole thing to take place within the solar system before the ship even launches and focus on the political intrigue between the humans, vulcans and klingons.

Its... reasonably middling-to-good. Doesn't have anything to do with TOS/TNG/DS9/VOY which is pretty much the limit of actual Trek, but if you're willing to accept that, it does alright as a sci-fi on its own merit.

Yes. The last season is the best. Its a shame it was cancelled because they were finally getting their shit together.

The big problem with enterprise is there's an overarching time travel plot that lasts through the first 3 seasons and it just never really works. Its not terrible; but in the background of a lot of good episode you have these lame villains that you've never heard of before pulling the strings when they could have done the same plot better and more straightforward with one pissed off time traveling Changeling.

Still has some great episodes though and unlike Nu Trek its proper Trek instead of pew pew CGI retardation.

I always thought Enterprise was extremely undermined by the more "Star Trek-y" episodes where they go to some planet and blah blah blah early 00's political metaphor, while in the background there's this great potential for the founding of the Federation but it's only in one out of every five episodes.
