Though if I were Robb I wouldn't have trusted or relied on Walder Frey at all at that point. Like how powerful are the Freys that I need to grovel and apologize to him? If I were Robb I'd seriously consider buying sellswords in the east like the Golden Company to bolster my forces than side with House Frey, who had repeatedly shown themselves to be unreliable and untrustworthy.

Just like many things in the show, the reasoning behind it is skewed from the books. Robb was being played by another house that wanted power, they had their daughter go into the medical tent while he was delirious with pain drugs, she fucks him and likely gets pregnant. Robb is completely against having a bastard since he saw how shitty Jon was treated his whole life, and he also sees that he took a noble girl's virginity. So he sees no other choice than to marry the daughter. The show just has Robb be a dishonorable liar, and he was not justified on the show.

If I remember correctly it's explicitly stated in the books that he married her to not dishonor her. In the show they just made it so he fell in love because D&D probably didn't have faith that the audience would find the book reason compelling enough so they went with the soap opera plot.

Is there any evidence of this being some 4D chess power play? How did they know Robb was against having bastards because of how his bastard brother was treated? Did they watch his upbringing from Winterfell? They somehow knew he was just as honorable as his father despite Robb being a boy who never left the North, and never showed his character to the world before the war started.

yes, they say this. However, it's not feasible since Walder has Robb over a barrel at the moment. Robb needs to cross immediately. Trying to attack the twins would kill off a lot of his army and take a ton of time. He either attacks the twins, goes around, or makes a marriage pact. The only one that works is the marriage. It would have helped if Walder had shown the bride rather than let Robb think it was a disgusting uggo.

Spicers definitely betrayed Robb to Tywin but that was after the marriage, it was them making lemonade out of lemons and wasn't some premeditated strategy where they knew robb would get injured in that specific battle and knew he would get treatment in their castle rather than his own camp and knew he would fuck their daughter if she was his nurse and knew he would marry her because muh honour and knew this would cost his alliances and knew it would cost his side the war..
