You can interpret it as a microcosm for their dynamic. Hank seemingly takes authority away from Walt and in retaliation Walt poisons the family. It's supposed to show the reason why Walt has disregard towards his family, even though he goes to great lengths to deny the fact, they don't respect Walt, and the feeling of being powerless has eaten away at him for years.

Is the Skylerster an underrated character? I think she gets too much hate, unlike other characters, like the Mikester, or even the Guster. My favorite is the Waltster on season 3
