Would practical effects/models save Star Trek?

No. Casting and writing quality are the issues.

I read somewhere that they only filmed one side of the Enterprise because they fucked up the other side somehow. Is that true? Any one else heard that?

I think they dropped it in-between TMP and Khan.

no. the space fights in ds9 are kino and they're n64 quality. you just need some rough sense of how intimidating the ships are and what tactic is happening/what the "geography" of space at that point looks like. even star trek nemesis had a good battle just from the space ships angle with the green space dust. it's not an aesthetic problem. think about, like, the nutrek end of picard s1 with the space tentacles and 50000 identical federation sovereign classes. if that was 100% practical models nothing about it would be better

Strange new worlds was littered with masculine haircut lesbians, Discovery had nonbinary uggo, Picard entire 1st season was about pro open borders, Star Trek is fucked with these woke retards running it into the ground

Andromeda was Roddenberry's best show idea. The actual show was mediocre but the idea of having a Star Trek Captain find him self in the situation where he has to reconcile his high-minded moral stances with the reality of existence in a lawless galaxy was a good one.

I would like Star Trek with the actual moral dilemmas that are born out of real hardship, not self-congratulatory wanking in a post-scarcity utopia. Because you will definitely make different choices if you can't just walk over to a replicator and get anything you want.

How about a Star Trek series based on another planet and race? Star Trek Romulus. Some alien that's more morally ambiguous.

They never finished one side to save time and money. Whenever they had to show the side of the ship that wasnt finished, they just flipped the film taken of the finished side.

That side is still unfinished as it is sitting in the Smithsonian today.
