WKW loves to re-edit his films, change the aspect ratio and color grade
the old DVDs and BDs aren't exactly accurate either but they're far better than the so called "new restorations"

>he old DVDs and BDs aren't exactly accurate either
What's wrong with them? Is there any version that IS accurate?

They all have different colors.

Why?
Anonymous No.213961573

Because the people making the home releases think it's a good idea.

old DVDs were often color graded with push for certain colors (like magenta) to compensate for the limitations of CRT displays
they also more often than not were DNR'd and then artificially sharpened
i would never be too bent on the accuracy of color timing though
i remember a filmmaker once sharing that even when striking 35mm show prints he would notice that no two prints looked exactly the same due to the photochemical nature of film
so unless you have directors and DPs who have good memory and are not revisionists to take their time and supervise the transfers, you're left with what's at best approximately how it was intended to be
