These were really bad because they were 100% filler which either didn't bring anything new to table or didn't lead to anything. Applies to most of the stuff in the season. Most of the guest stars and such also didn't amount to anything, like literally anything. I can sort of appreciate a twist where the motive of the big bad (well he wasn't even a major serial killer if a serial killer at all, mostly just a kidnapper) is something really petty, but it wasn't executed that well.

I think the song choices may be a symptom of a rushed production, more than anything else (they didn't finish shooting the season until after episode 1 aired).
The editing was rushed so the music curating was also rushed and they went with obvious overplayed stuff.
