Absolutely wrong. The cool cinematics of the cars in motion was the only thing I actually enjoyed. If I weren't an F1 fan the movie would legit be a 3/10. Most of the story beats make absolutely no sense in the order their shown and the black dude's character was all over the place. They couldn't even decide if he was supposed to be a villain or not. It's so bad.

Not exactly the order but each beat comes out of nowhere and doesn't really make sense based on what came before it. The scene with JP crashing is the worst offender. You have high octane action and suddenly it switches on a dime to this melodrama of a guy about to die in a car fire when the movie has done nothing to earn our compassion for him. You also have him acting like a villain one scene and then he's a hard-headed rookie in the next scene who just needs some direction. When it seems like he's actually learned from an experience he goes right back to being a villain again. Apparently the script went through extensive rewrites so I'm assuming this is a product of that. He probably was actually a villain at one point and then it switched for some reason. That's why they introduce some other guy as the "bad guy" right near the end when you've only seen him for maybe 20 seconds and know nothing about him just to try and add some drama that isn't there to the final act. Not related to this point but Brad Pitt's character was way too nice as well. It took me right out of the movie to see him sacrificing his own race to help a guy who had been nothing but a total prick to him. Especially when he was presented as an asshole type at the start but at some point that side of him completely vanishes.

This is wrong. The movie spends entire runtime showing and literally telling whats its about but people still dont change their mind.

The whole movie is about Sonny Hayes having no problems in life, needing no help, and him helping literally everyone else. That's the movie. Sonny Hayes is that stranger in cowboy movies , trope stranger that comes into troubled town and solves their problems and then rides out to the next town.

That said, the script does have issues for sure, JP is all over the place, yes.
