Can someone explain to me why there is so little discussion on this board? I just checked /lit/ and there are far more serious discussions on that board compared to this one. Everytime I come here, it's just threads obsessing over actresses, mainstream garbage like capeshit, star wars, lotr, etc. When I make a thread on a certain movie like Andrei Rublev, it gets only like 5 replies and then it dies.

What can we do to improve the quality of the board? There needs to be a separate board for cinema and a separate board for plebshit like capeshit, starslop and LOTR trash

message boards in general have gone downhill. i'm not even writing properly because fuck you.

every 4chan board that's a "mainstream" activity like watching television or playing vidya is basically going to be /b/ with a theme. or, now, /pol/.

i say allowing mobile posting and .webms was a mistake. and a good rule would be "no social media screenshots"
Anonymous No.213965011 >>213965800 >>213965984 >>213966389 >>213968381 >>213968408 >>213969215 >>213971125 >>213974286 >>213974713

It's always been this way. People come to 4chan for /b/, then when they branch out into the niche boards they try /tv/ because people without hobbies think watching movies counts as a hobby even though everybody in the world watches movies, mostly casually. You may as well have a /toilet/ board where people discuss their bowel movements. So the percentage of people who want to discuss the history or philosophy of film will always be drowned out by people who want to shitpost about actresses and youtubers. It's baked in as board culture.

/lit/ works because the posters are mostly interested in literature and have a core canon they all read from so discussion flows easily. /mu/ and /v/ work for the same reason.

The problem is, if you want to discuss, say, the lumiere bothers voyage to the moon like in your pic, then you're expecting a board of normies to have watched it recently enough to have a passionate discussion about it over the course of a 400 post thread? for a century old film? seriously? Most people who watch movies don't watch old movies. Whereas most people who read books read old books.

>There needs to be a separate board for cinema
would be too slow for the aforementioned reasons. Just embrace the shitposts and hold out for the occasional good thread
Anonymous No.213965200
Gook moot won't allow a celebrity containment board, so this place is constantly filled with shit. But yeah, it seems to be deliberate sabotage. I don't know why they don't make a religion board for /his/ for example.

Anyhow, the recent hack and downtime showed that good discussion CAN take place on other chans, but because they're not as fast monkee get bored.

we're one of the most astroturfed boards. /tv/ is ridden with pajeets working for actual hollywood marketing campaings (mainly streamiing platforms, really). it's really easy to spot them because they suck and use the same faggy non-sexual "simp" posting about females or studio-friendly talking points about their products, but they kill every chance of real discussion

Half of the board is paid shilling, then you have useless retards like the baskin roberts spammer who shits up this board constantly. That same spastic has also spent 10+ years talking to himself in the /mlb/ general. Basically no American pro baseball discussion happens on /sp/ because of him. 90% of posts made on /tv/ are bots, foreign / queer agitprop, /pol/ trash, or marketers / shills. They think 4chan is still relevant among "edgy youths", when the reality is that they all moved on to tiktok. The only other fools using /tv/ are the bored middle / post-middle aged degenerates trying to cling to their high school / college days.

television/film = low entry barrier "hobby", everyone does it, and as a result a lot of refuse enters the discourse.

literature/books = high leverage, high focus activity that very, very few people do. requires time, requires patience, exercises and enriches the mind with information more than nearly any other activity that can be possibly done. It also has the commonality of words with this kind of written discussion, so there's much less information being lost discussing texts on a text imageboard then discussing films through text. In the end, better discussion is a foregone conclusion when it comes to literature.

reading books doesn't axiomatically make you an intelligent person, and for a lot of people it actually turns them into a complete faggot because the average person will just believe and incorporate whatever ideas they read by virtue of having spent time reading it. Look at /lit/ itself, it's been in a death spiral for over a decade because literature is dead and there's only like generously 500 good books ever written, so the board is not only full of nothing but newfags discussing the same, again, generously 75 books but they're also all marxist feminist literal faggots.

Its literally just bot spam and all of the posters should be perma banned. A thread like that on /tv/ would be deleted in 5 minutes

Kpop should get their own board honestly, they're parasiting so many other boards it just makes sense. Kill /biz/ for it.

just stay in your tryhard gay lit board
people don't care about pretending to enjoy garbage from 100 years ago. teenagers do that because they imagine it will make them look smart and interesting but adults know they have a limited lifespan and should focus on stuff they enjoy like pretty actresses

This board got astroturfed hard. Crossposters from Reddit and Twitter come here just to repost shit or to steal content and repost it on their pages. There are people literally making money posting 4chan screenshots on social media. And you have a bunch of /tv/ threads that began popping up in the last years with suspicious post rates much higher than the rest of the board. I think jannies are on it or just want to kill the site.

/mu/ is 100% dead since at least late 2022

The problem is as simple as anywhere that's pozzed by the jew (4chan is evidently a CIA playground daycare for autists, gookmoot doesn't actually do anything):
The paid-jannies and people that want to change the culture and dynamics for the better are cutoff and denied completely as it doesn't serve the only and single purpose of destroying society as a whole

The most obvious example of this is /mu/, from industry powerhouse with a couple thousand users to a total shithole for retarded teenagers in a spam of 5 - 6 years
Why take care of a place that denies every single attempt to do any better? Judt move!
/mu/ literally has not had a single mod since 2019, that's why it went to absolute shit same as /b/, it's better for the USA not even bothering with some irrelevant as today hobby like music than tard wrangling a bunch of retards that listen to Phill Collins and call rap gay
They would rather get a single monthly cut from the South Korean goverment and have 20 /Kpop/ Generals at the same time that do anything about a dying cornerstone of the chan

/tv/'s slop to kino ratio fell out of balance since 2020, there are way more plebs now than ever before. I'd bet most people here watch nothing more than capeshit, the newest netflix slop and ecelebs. Last month for example /tv/ was nothing but Superman and Sam Hyde threads, it was almost unusable.

The boards quality seems to have tanked rapidly in the last few months. While there was always some meme threads and other garbage, actual discussion did go on. I think there's just a lot of shills sliding quality threads to promote capefaggotry and such.
