Every time I've tried to share my jellyfin server with a normal person there's always some kind of problem, it's usually client related. Last one couldn't even access it because there's no jellyfin client on Samsung TVs unless you're autistic enough to install it via some hacker nonsense, before that the person had problems with subtitles just randomly not working or disappearing half way through the movie. None of this will Plex, I just send out the invite and it works on all devices.

buy an old dell office PC off ebay, chuck a fat harddrive on it and install Pop_OS, it comes with VLC, Firefox and Transmission which is all you need to start downloading torrents and watching them. Video playback is basically a solved problem and even bad computers from 10 years can playback bluray quality video no problem. That's for 4:3. 16:9 also exists in the world of PAL and NTSC.

But even worse than that, there are two equally valid interpretations of width, one where the entire 720px width is meant to be the frame width, and one where only the middle 704px are meant to be the frame width, and the 8+8px on the left and right are deliberately NOT a part of the frame, and therefore the imagery needs to be stretched a little bit more horizontally in this case.
And without closely examining the footage itself, for example by find some large perfect squares or large perfect circles in it, you can't actually know which of these two aspect ratios was meant to be the correct one as intended by the person who mastered the transfer (or by the random software that did it for him).

I have an old laptop with 1 GB of RAM that runs Windows XP. It still works. Win 7 doesn't even want to install on it because the installer wants more RAM. (I know that there are workarounds, I just don't bother).

This XP machine can still connect to the internet and browse it. By now, in 2020s, you need some enthusiast-developed forks of browsers instead of vanilla Firefox or Chrome, because the final XP versions of these two can't handle some modern websites well, but things work.

No viruses on that machine yet, despite all this.

(obviously I don't use that laptop in daily life, that would be retarded. but I am into older music that was often released on CDs and never made it to online releases, so I need to buy and rip CDs every now and then, and this laptop has an incredibly omnivorous CD drive that easily reads even the most abused CDs without issues - truly a miracle drive)

What do? Is there any way to get nitroflare premium even just for 1 day for free? Is there a VPN that offers a free trial or something that you could use to torrent safely?

Look up debrid services. I don't use them, but they "turn" external links (such as filehosters, torrents, and others) into fast direct links for you, by downloading your provided link themselves (using their own accounts, and their own servers) and re-hosting it for you.
Now, whether or not there are some debrids with a trial period, I don't know. This is also a blue board with no direct piracy links. Ask in relevant online places that allow links and discussions of specific pirate things, someone will probably suggest you some debrid with a free trial, or maybe you can ask nicely and someone will simply download your Nitroflare link for you.
