So many STNGs had shitty, female-audience focused episodes. They would have a great science-fiction focused taught action/thriller episode, then next week you'd get an Outrageous Okona, Worf gets a son, Troi's mom etc episode. Quality was all over the place.
Voyager and DS9 did less of this, but even they had some utter shit along the way. I'm more forgiving of stupid, but sci-fi, plots like the ones where everyone devolves in Voyager.
