Okay let's see what happens if I say Alien 3 through Alien Romulus was not a good run.
I think even since Alien 1979 it has been ntohing but a series of incompetence on top of incompetence and people mistook it for grandness because when you're mysterious nobody can judge you correctly when there's nothing there to judge.
Meanwhile the extended canon like the comic books and video games and even the toys have expanded the lore a lot more ... including xenocyborgs, predaliens, human female raised by female predator, alien vs alien, alien matriarch, the list goes on.
The problem is that not a single one copies the execution of the first 2 movies and they do not appear in theatrical releases and as such nobody considers them canon to the lore.
And the lore they do give isn't all that original or extended, it's basically fanfiction.
None of them went like Riddick 1 to Riddick 2 where they introduce an entire Dune intergalactic nation on the level of Star Trek and Stargate.
Ironically Riddick's video game did a much finer job at Riddick without including any aliens whatsoever.
It actually explores Riddick's Mad Max-tier prison extensively with a plethora of characters.
By comparison the Alien Dark Horse comics can't do much since all of them are either 30 page one shots or 120 pages maximum. It would have to turn into an exposition dump and an illustration gallery dump with 500 pages of lore.
Speaking of which there is the Alien RPG book... an extended version of it has just been recently crowdfunded.
