Today I was getting groceries and encountered a Portlandia-tier hipster couple in their 40s. It was like they hadn’t changed a bit in their style. The dude had the ironic moustache and trucker hat with round glasses and the woman, who was quite attractive but in an almost sexless way, had the peak hipster tattoos and attire while still keeping her figure. Their son was maybe 11 or so and fat as fuck. He totally broke their hipster image and I kept seeing them in the store and thought “so this is what happened to some of the hipsters who stayed committed”. Such a strange thing to see.

I live in Oregon. Its exaggeration. Or at least it used to be. This show and legalizing weed before anyone else really did a number on that city. The best way to describe what happened to Portland over the past 2 decades, in /tv/ terms, flanderization. And it sucks because you have that city basically deciding everything for the state.

Long story short, Portland's downtown is empty these days. All of the companies and offices left.

Yea, once again. It's massive. I often think foreigners can't seem to grasp the scale. Their are 50 states, all with their own quirks and cultures. Fuck, if you had ever lived in Texas, that state alone could be divided in to 6 completely different mini states. Even California is basically 3 different mini states.

Idaho is what you're thinking of. But yes, the PNW is very white, and (knock on wood) even with all the incentives, browns don't seem to want to move here. Pretty sure niggers couldn't even technically own property here until the 70s. My state history is kind of foggy, but I believe during the Civil war Oregon basically said "Yea slavery is bad, but niggers can't live here."

During the American Civil War, the reason the western states and territories sided with the North was because they didn't want slavery expanded for the simple reason that they didn't want blacks in the west fucking up the labor market. Look up "Free Soil Movement" for more information.

I actually really like this show. I had a Bart Ska-mpson shirt for about 10 years, and it was hard to finally get rid of it.
It was made so much funnier when I learned Portland ended up hating it and them. The story of the real feminist bookstore turning on them is hilarious.

I hate Bill Maher but this is an awful satire of him. He tried to do the same thing with Rogan and it was equally unfunny. Part of the problem is Rogan and Maher are already a joke in many respects, the other problem is Heidecker is absolutely seething with hatred for them so he can't even see how unfunny the sketches are.
