I've watched pretty much all there is to watch that is noteworthy. If anyone recommends a movie I've probably seen it. If it was highly rated, seen it. If it made a lot of money, seen it.
After a wasted life of watching movies I can tell you that it's all slop and movies are not very memorable. I am 99% sure I've seen pretentious slop like Jacob's Ladder but I can't tell you anything about it.

As someone who's known more than a few actors for over 20 years, I can tell you with absolute certainty that they've been like this for more than 10 years.

If you went to any Uni drama school back in the 2000s (and even before then, I'm sure) and asked the actors about their favorite films, the majority of them would rattle off titles from the likes of Tarkovsky, Bergman, Fellini and all the usual suspects.
