Yeah, they didn't like the fact that a movie about class conflict and mental health got popular. They prefer movies about racism and sexism and other meaningless things that draw attention away from them, so they had to give this movie a sequel that shuts it down for good.

How such low IQ chuds allowed to have opinions on anything is beyond me. We are about 7 years from Joker 2 beyond lauded as a masterpiece, once all the losers angry at it get through puberty.

The movie is not subtle. It is intentionally antagonistic towards the audience and at one point Joaquin basically looks at the camera and says "we're not giving the people what they want"

Of course, this doesn't mean anyone is obligated to like the movie. But its creative intent is very obvious

It's obviously intentional and malicious. The best you could say is it was stupid of the people involved to be so malicious and it was stupid to spend 200 million in order to facilitate said maliciousness. And you could say the filmmakers did not have full control over what they were making with Joker 1 (not smart enough/good enough writers and filmmakers to create what the intended) and used Joker 2 to maliciously correct those "mistake" and Joker 2 is closer to the original intention behind Joker 1.

It is really aggravating that people act like they ruined the character or whatever. The point is he's a delusional schizophrenic who was failed by his mother, the state, and his community. In the first movie his meds are taken away and he snaps. The film makes it clear he's hallucinating when it shows that his neighbor, who he fully imagined going on a succesful date with, is scared to see him in her apartment. We don't know how much of the rest of the film really happened. He 100% imagined all the popular support he had for killing the three guys on the train since there were no witnesses. The second one makes it even clearer when he's hallucinating after going off his meds again. No one likes him. No one ever liked him. Hes a murderer. Hes a victim too, yes, but when hes off his meds he's also a delusional murderer

It's funny seeing people be absolutely mindbroken about the rape scene. I've seen people coping so hard that they refuse to acknowledge he got raped and they say he just got beaten up instead.
