>The Bee Gees' success rose and fell with the disco bubble. By the end of 1979, disco was rapidly declining in popularity, and the backlash against disco put the Bee Gees' American career in a tailspin. Encouraged by Steve Dahl's Disco Demolition Night, radio stations around the US began promoting "Bee Gee-Free Weekends". Following their remarkable run from 1975 to 1979, the act had only one more top 10 single in the US, and that did not come until the single "One" reached number 7 in 1989.[16]
Hopefully the same thing happens to K-Pop. Bee Gees made good music too, but now it seems like shitmusic is unkillable. Hair Rock died off because of This Is Spinal Tap but mumble rap's been going strong for 10 years now

The vicious backlash stuff used to get just for being popular really doesn't happen anymore. Make a joke about Taylor Swift and people look at like you just flashed your cock at the Pope. If it was the 70's or 80's there'd be real newspapers publishing cartoons of her being beaten to death with hammers

I finally sat down and watched this thing after months of procrastinating/dreading it after my first attempt.
I'd say my opinion of it didn't change much, but I'm glad I watched it. The music was very good (refreshing to hear a film with a full-on OST current year), and the story/concept was good fun even if it was poorly exceuted.
Apart from the animation (which really, really bothered me given the movie has no shortage of fantastic action/music setpieces that would've been god-tier had they been fully animated, as well as random scenes with smooth animation and others with powerpoint-tier shit), my biggest gripe was the tone/pacing. The movie is never sure whether it should be an over the top, almost Naked Gun/Megamind-esque parody of Asian pop culture or if it should be a more serious film that has the facade of an Asian pop culture parody with something darker underneath about the dehumanizing nature of fame in the vein of a kid-friendly, action-driven equivalent to The Wall or Perfect Blue.
Instead it just does everything, which results in weird pacing and jarring, inorganic tonal shifts.
And the humor, while having many moments and gags that are creative and laugh out loud, are let down by insufferable Westernized Asian Progressive writing that I had a hard time sitting through (though this was largely concentrated in the first half of the film); not to mention some weird cinematography choices.
I'd probably give it a 6.5/10 overall, nothing amazing but it stands out in the mountain of shit that's come out this year I guess. I just found it a tad disappointing overall given it's the de facto normalfag zoomie movie of the summer.
Music is good though.

I wished I didn't have to remind you of this but this cartoon is for children and they love it and watch it over and over and over again. It doesn't mean your critique is wrong but for children, the target audience, they don't care. It was the children watching telling their friends and this exploded.

Lol. The people behind the anti-disco movement were homophobes and basically said disco is gay coded (true). Thing is, the tight leather pants, long hair and falsetto strutting cock rock that came after was no better. There was also some racism since disco was also seen as black but rap and r&b rose after grunge and black coded music still rule the charts to this day. Crackas are ghettoed to cuntry music which is basically whiny pop music nowadays.

I really love the concert scenes in this movie. There's two in particular I really love, one of which being the one where Rumi sings Golden and she's swinging around an arena on a golden moon like the Vestal Virgin scene in Megalopolis, and the final concert at the tower with the Saja Boys where they have this really awesome, Wall-esque satanic concert at the N Seoul Tower. They're both really fun, beautiful, kinetic scenes that are really sadly let down by the stuttering, jittery animation given they're these really cool setpieces.
I'd say the same for the fights, especially the one in the bathhouse and the one on the train. They seem like something that, god help me for saying his name, Zack Snyder could've really nailed back in the day. There's also some cool dream and song sequences in there too that I won't spoil, but the animation plays to the detriment of those great scenes.
>What's an example of a gag like this?
All the food millennial food "humor" and them repeating everything quirk chungus style in the dialogue scenes (like I said this happens far more often early on, but it's an issue).
>What's an example?
The movie feels weirdly claustrophobic because it rarely lets the backgrounds breathe. It's almost always right up in the faces of all the characters while the backgrounds are very plain and undetailed outside of the concert scenes.

>this cartoon is for children and they love it and watch it over and over and over again.
I mean, on one hand it is, but on the other I'd say about half of the movie's success comes from Zoomers (both male and female) while the rest are little Alphies. I totally get why kids have fell in love with it: I have a much younger brother that just turned 14 who loves the movie because it's bright and colorful, has great scenes and cute girls, with funny (often suggestive) laffaminit gags, and catchy songs; and also because there's fuckall else for kid or young teen shit at the moment.
>It was the children watching telling their friends and this exploded.
As I said earlier, that's only half of it. The other half are Zoomies, the vast majority of whom are adults now, that are fanboying/fangirling over this movie to an insane degree. It's a dynamic not unlike Minecraft earlier this year, and given I too am an adult watching the movie, I too can treat it seriously like I would any other film.
And so my opinion on it is my opinion on it.

Koreans are the biggest consoomers on earth, plus they circumcise a lot.
