The first half is a literal masterpiece of atmospheric direction and buildup. It devolves into action slop somewhat in the 2nd half but the story remains interesting, and overall it is still one of the best sci fis ever made.

It's my all time favorite movie
The action is great, and the story is fucking great, there's so much to dissect with it, on the surface it's the best sci-fi movie ever, but it's also Plato's allegory of the cave, simulation theory, and an allegory for gnosticism
It's like a 9.9/10 movie
