It was a common thing post WW2 for men who hadn't served, or served in mostly bureaucratic military roles, to lie and exaggerate their service. Probably arises from ego/guilt/jealously and self loathing. There are no records of Lee being in any special services, he did have an intelligence role in the RAF, but no record of him ever seeing frontline combat. The main allegations against him are that he embellished his role, led people to believe he was in the SAS, and did not correct any of these embellishments. Also there is no record of him having an occult library and the way he talks on the matter is more like someone who got all his knowledge from the wicker man and playing a vampire.
