I have only watched the netflix series and read the wiki synopsis for the books.
I can see what they were going for with the netflix series by condensing the plot beats and characters and moving the story along fast. By the end of the series they are touching on middle of the 2nd book I think.
I like it but there are a lot of parts that I skip when I have watched it since, especially the 1 or 2 characters that are just useless. The brain in the jar fag who is dying of cancer, his entire shtick is weak af being a beta fag and they spend way too long on his character even know he brings nothing to the plot than being a brain in a jar for later..

I don't know how you can rate the entire series as a 7/10 just based on how bad the first and third novel are. The only book in the series that has anything to stand on is the second, and it is still a 4/10 at best. The prose is terrible, most of the plotlines are terrible(don't tell me Luo Ji's perfect waifu plotline really spoke to you). Dark forest theory is peak midwittery, the dimensional foils are really stupid, the obsession with cannibalism in every single book is just strange, the tea obsessed waifu ninja robot is retarded, and Cheng Xin is the biggest abomination of a character in any fictional media ever. The tencent series is just a one to one copy of the first novel, and as such it has major pacing and narrative problems. Technically the series is just awful. The sound mixing is the worst I've ever seen in any series. The strange habit of randomly dubbing over english speaking characters in the middle of a monologue with an ESL retard that can't even pronounce the words is distracting to say the least. The acting is terrible and melodramatic. It is the most amateurish tv series I have ever seen.

The netflix series is technically proficient and actually attempts to adapt a series for tv, but that comes along with all the woke nonsense we hate netflix and modern media for. Ultimately it doesn't really matter because they are adapting Cheng Xin in the first series(which makes sense from a timeline perspective) but as she is literally the worst fictional character of all time it just means the entire show is tainted from start to finish.

Again the books are complete fucking garbage. The chink series is amateurish fucking garbage. The netflix adaptation is technically proficient woke western garbage. If you enjoy any part of this series you should fucking kill yourself for being such a fucking retard.

the dark forest theory falls apart when you consider 2 facts:
civilizations are not only separated by distance in space, but also by distance in time. with how fast technology progresses once it gets going, the first to the galactic stage will win the entire galaxy by default, while everyone else is still crawling out of shallow water pools.
and 2nd you can't hide yourself anyways, radio broadcasts literally do not matter. habitable planets are detectable by light alone. our own telescopes are already on the cusp of detecting atmospheric compositions of exoplanets, and we have found thousands of planets nearby already. extrapolate a thousand years into the future (which is still basically instant on evolutionary timescales) and we will have a catalogue of billions of planets in this galaxy, with a pretty good picture of which one is suitable for life.

if there was any predator civilization lurking out there, humanity wouldnt exist. there is literally no reason to wait to wipe out the competition. they would've either glassed or taken earth when dinosaurs were still around. the fact that earth just sat there, pristine and unbothered for billions of years. is proof enough that there is nobody else in our corner of the universe.

He was just throwing shit at a board to see what would stick, then he realized he wrote a terrible fucking story with terrible characters with each book so he decided to start over for the next. The prose is clunky and completely emotionless (this might just be a chink translation thing, I don't know) and most of the book feels like an excuse for the author to sperg out over some STEM topics that he likes. The premise of the theory is that civilisations would not look to communicate with others because of the probability of being destroyed.
Its not more complex than that.
Sure you could say I dont speak to my neighbours for the probability they would harm me, or say white people colonized the world because they were technically superior and use that as evidence of the theory being false, but that is neither evidence of the same scenario.
The scenario is that alien species would not seek out others for fear of being wiped out.

light spectroscopy exists in the real world, and with strong enough telescopes (which we almost have right now) its possible to read atmospheric compositions from planets hundreds of lightyears away to get a pretty good picture if they potentially host life or not, think a few hundred years into the future and how this technology will inevitably get more refined.

I think it is unironically just a culture thing. In the third book there is a character named Cheng Xin, and apparently this sounds like the word "love" in Chinese. So her entire story is a hamfisted metaphor about love. She loves humanity too much to push the button and reveal their(and the trisolarns) existence to the wider universe. She loves humanity too much to allow Wade to use antimatter bullets to hold all of the human space stations hostage until he can finish his light speed drive. The loves the universe too much to potentially cause it to miss out on some rebirth by keeping matter inside her pocket universe.

The chinks have no modern culture for writing. Their prose is locked behind the few fictional stories that didn't get destroyed during the cultural revolution. It would be like if the west never evolved past writing stories in iambic pentameter.

In general this reflects a lot of Chinese fiction. A characters name sounds like another word in Chinese so their entire personality is built around that word.
