each segment in those shows were only a couple minutes between cuts or commercial breaks, so what were they doing, just sitting there dead silent as they swapped the set around and the actors got ready? must have taken hours to watch one "episode" worth of actual performance

never been at one, but heard through others there used to be crowd pumpers and legend has it the tickets were free. air conditioning wasn't as prolific so that was a plus during the summertime. it was somewhere between watching stage theater and a movie. the types of people who enjoy that likely wouldn't care about any awkwardness. "hey we just saw a live recoding of , isn't that swell!?"
