I literally just skipped and skimmed through this movie to see what all the fuss was about and my god, this might be the sloppiest and shittiest movie I have seen in a minute.
How do people unironically enjoy this? Does the audience have no taste, or is that relegated to just capeshit? Is the audience getting dumber or something?

It was a bad film. But I think DC vs Marvel fan boys generated false hype. F4 probably sucks as well, but MCU fans have to pretend it's good.
One thing I couldn't get over is that Luthor was this world renowned philanthropist who lived in the same city as Superman but they never even met before the film? Furthermore, Lex was studying Superman for years. That alone should warrant some face time, but nope.

That character and that entire warring nations plot line was extraneous? I think the kids nowadays say it's "so extra". Meaning, didn't need to be in the film at all. None of it did. Did we watch the same movie? Most of Superman's growth was about balancing his internal beliefs with what the people thought of him. Also not trusting the C-listers because he didn't agree with their methods. The whole end sequence is him telling his friends to go handle the border situation and he trusts them to make the right call because he knows his attention needs to be on the dude who's splitting the world in half.
