Why the show was so cringe?
>be me, atheist and scifi enjoyer
>check this show, looks really cool
>despite happening in the "future", has 2000s 'atheism vs christianity' cringe debates
>even in S1 you have to suffer it from the "science guy" due to his lack of sleep, I cringed so much, it really was awful to watch
Do americans know that many great scientists were men of faith, no?
Why american shows can't avoid cringeness?

RDM was seething at Gene Roddenberry's rule for Star Trek and his constraints on Voyager, so went out of his way to make the "anti-Star Trek", this is why literally EVERY SINGLE CONVERSATION is interpersonal melodrama to an obnoxious level.
Another issue is that this is the War on Terror era, which is cringe USA USA HOO HAH and West wing circlejerking. This infects though Enterprise as well.
Another is this is the first show that did mystery box shit, except audiences kept figuring out exactly what the plot was, so they kept retconning themselves episode to episode to the point falls apart the moment they leave Kobol.

Except the final season confirms all the supernatural shit is actually real

And why all the "supernatural shit" didn't get a scientific explanation? It's a SCIFI show, not a fantasy one.

The difference between scifi and fantasy is that in scifi you get a (bizarre) explanation of why things happen.

>EVERY SINGLE CONVERSATION is interpersonal melodrama to an obnoxious level.
The worst part is THIS has become a plague that infects any single action, scifi, fantasy, thriller, comedy show and film.

Check any action film, there is more drama than action; check any comedy film, there is more drama than comedy.

But Battlestar Galactica never really explained any of its sci fi shit. The jump drives, how they have gravity on board, whether they're using rail guns or something else. Why expect a scientific explanation for the ending?

BSG would be fucking huge with women if it came out today. Every single character is in a new relationship and cheating on said relationship constantly

>because... check notes, it is a Scifi show
I'm not asking about an autistic explanation like in hard scifi (which I would love), but come on, it's like watching a Sherlock Holmes film and the mystery is not resolved.

I just want SPACE BATTLES and cool scifi concepts, WHY IT IS SO DIFFICULT TO GET SPACE KINOS?!
Anonymous No.214023258 >>214023310 >>214023331
One of the biggest immersion breakers around the scifi of BSG is how they've invented FTL travel and super advanced AIs, but the rest of their technology seems stuck in the 90s/00s

They got rid of their high tech stuff during the cylon war because the cylons could hack it. Doral explains this to the other reporters at the start of the miniseries.

Same can be say about 98% of scifi films and shows
>Star Wars
>cloning, hyper-space travel, inter-galactic portals, inter-stellar nukes
>WW1 tactics, ideologies, governments, etc
>humans have 0 improvements
It's a big problem right now in the scifi genre.

It was one of those shows that had some great space battles but ruined itself with stupid drama. They should have learned from The X-Files.
