I just started S3 of SNW. ep1 was OK but man, ep 2 and that stupid CNW tier romance and trelane gives me the impression the rest of the reason will be 'let it run in the background while you do other stuff' tier. i'm at ep 3 right now, and although the premise (gorn aids relapse) is dumb having klingons and black ops shit with pike and mbenga is at least mildly interesting (had to cringe at the female klingon commander though)

I think the new phase of Star Trek shows has been great! The production value is incredible, the cast is diverse and talented, and the storytelling is more nuanced and character-driven than ever before. The new series has managed to honor the legacy of the original while also pushing the franchise in new and exciting directions. I can't wait to see what the future holds for Star Trek.

The Voyager 2-parter Workforce would make for a reasonably entertaining dystopian novel. Or it might have been even better than Nemesis as a TNG movie. Maybe it's just me, I like hypothetical dystopias. Workforce is just creepy enough and just believable enough to make for a good story. It only really works in an established universe though, where you know ahead of time who the Voyager crew is and all that. All the "we're lucky to have such good jobs" stuff is just creepy enough and just believable enough.

DS9 is alright, but if you don't care about Bajoran issues and the Dominion war becomes boring after a while, it's not propped up by much else.
