this show is exceedingly mid and after finally watching it I don't get how it became popular. none of the characters are particularly captivating or well written and the red john conclusion is wholly unsatisfying after so many seasons of build up. it was the peak of cop shows with monk, psych, and SVU before it went to shit and all three are significantly better shows.

Limitless but rhe books have a more realistic understanding of genius. They actually explore the characters thought process. They kind of did that with him speaking to himself in stop time mental scapegoat. Suits also mentions his prodigious memory and then just becomes a legal drama. I saw fewer episodes of suits though.

Criminal intent is a more grounded approach to the genius detective with a Kooky personality but det. Goren was still insanely intelligent. Like a team of elite writers with internet access intelligent. Still, his archnemesis, Nicole Wallace is my favorite female villian in a tv show.
