The point he was making is true, overconsumption of mindless entertainment is bad. I disagree that TV was killing creative drive but he's right in principle especially nowadays with social media and smartphones.

I remember when my parents limited my smartphone usage at 13 when I got it. Considering how limited it was in what it could do, that was a blessing in disguise.
