Gunn and DC are playing the long game. Give each character a solo movie to build an audience that leads into an event movie, this case Superman-Supergirl vs Brainiac. It’s what the MCU did before they flooded the zone with garbage

wow. Gunn really fucked up that concept from the word go. Also his movie did about the same as Superman Returns when adjusting for inflation and worse than Man of Steel without adjusting for inflation so your DCU isn't going to amount to much.

A Superman movies establishes stuff in the Superman universe like The Fortress of Solitude and Supergirl? Get out of here. And Justice Gang is not the JL. They are all side characters. JL be Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, one of the main Green Lanterns Hal or John. The Gang is like Black Widow showing up in Iron Man 2, Hawkeye in Thor, Fury in Captain America

Yes black widow was introduced in 2, the first Iron Man movie is just Tony and pre War Machine War Machine. Gunn is doing things his own way, he really likes ensemble casts he can make bounce off each other. Every show and movie he's done so far has thrown a ton of characters on screen all at once. Marvel didn't really do that, they were much slower about it.

It’s a build up for Brainiac which Supergirl is important part of it. After that he will no doubt do his Guardians of the Galaxy with Supergirl leading the Legion of Superheroes and Superman going off to form the JL
