Cox is right. This is not bait, Hopkins' Lecter is cartoonish, Cox is much more believable. He looks and feels like an caged beast, there is evil and intelligence in his eyes but you can see how the years in that cell are wearing him down.

Maybe because the Hannibal in Manhunter was a somewhat different character than the one in Silence of the Lambs. Hopkin's Hannibal had a darkly comedic edge to him.
