Reconciling the Star Trek timeline.
The Original Series had World War 3 in the 1990s, and then First Contact moved it to the 2050s.
What if World War 3 is not a singular conflict, but a series of conflicts.
1992-1995, the Augments take over 40 countries across the world, many openly, many forming shadow governments. Day to Day life in first world countries is unaffected, but disastrous in the 2nd and third world.
1996, the Augments are defeated and Khan escapes.
1996-2024, Many nations in an effort to rebuild from the Augments become isolationists. The Global Economy is impacted and by the 2020s, there is a global depression.
2025-2050s, factions begin to form in the East. China becomes a major player in the East and the US remains a major power. The Eastern Collation is formed.
Small conflicts break out as China expands. it's borders. Small nuclear exchanges emerge, largely between nations like India and Pakistan.
The Western Powers start to control their military with Narcotics, likely a refined form a Methamphetamine that can be introduced as a nasal spray.
2053, a global nuclear exchange takes place that ends all global conflicts. Governments as we know them fall. Asia takes the brunt of Nuclear Fire, resulting the lack of East Asians in Star Trek, often hailing from the US like how Sulu is from San Francisco, and Forever Ensign Kim is from South Carolina.
