Nice cinematography but story was shit. Some decent concepts, but world makes no fucking sense and just seven samurai type of tale with no weight or emotion. add weird sex fetish shit and some poorly done stop motion effects and it just never came together. snyder's only real good work was when other people wrote the scripts, though that went wrong with superman stuff. 300, watchmen, couple others were much better when he was on leash. gunn is similar - gotg 1 and 2 much more subdued than when given full control of later movies.

As someone who adored Zack’s DC movies I couldn’t be bothered to watch AoTD and RM. RM in particular looked painfully generic. I remember seeing a promo shot of the gang and it was all just a bunch of dudes, and then there’s Ray Fischer with war paint. Did not look appealing at all. I opened the movie for 5 minutes and turned it off because the CGI alone was awful. No idea what happened there. I never asked for the full untethered Zack, that’s how you get stuff like the Bruce/Lois storyline in a flat attempt of adapting King Arthur or whatever that story’s called. You’re supposed to sprinkle the kino, not dump the whole thing in.

You’d think he’d work with Terrio again after Justice League but instead he got screenwriters with garbage filmography’s while making himself the cinematographer to only use the “dream” lens. He's like Blumhouse. He's a great ideas guy and has a knack for translating visual style to film, but he should be absolutely nowhere near the script nor should he be allowed to coach the actors.

If he could just have the humility to recognize his own weaknesses and find the writers that would compliment his artistic vision, he would make phenomenal movies.
