Not him, but it makes sense. A lot of people have some sort of "girlfriend" in their youth, or at least go on awkward "teehee we're really doing this haha" first dates when they're in middle school and high school, and missing out on that is quite literally missing out on a developmental milestone. And once it's missed out on, a lot of people can't really adjust, since they're still seeking those kinds of "both parties are awkward and learning things together" moments, when those sorts of moments are practically unfindable when you reach your mid 20s (and certainly 30s), and most people you meet by that age will have had multiple relationships, sex, and once you hit 30s, peobably even legitimate long term exes and even children. Like how can a 30++ year old KHHV ever really relate on a first date with a woman who had her first kiss and boyfriend at 13, lost her virginity by 18, a srsbsns boyfriend by 20, a husband by 26, and probably even a kid in elementary school at home? Of course people who are that age are going to long for fictional, never aging tweens, because on a relationship level (and honestly even a general social level), that's where they are.
