That was not really the plan but it -had- to be done because cambodia had been bombed to shit for like 10 years at that point by the US and then by Vietnam, it was either put everyone to work in the camps or death. Famine had already existed in Cambodia before pol pot came to power

The School converted to a torture prison/death camp and baby bashing tree does seem like something straight out of an extreme horror movie. Sad stuff, most people don't even know any of this ever happened. You can still visit them today.
