The Raimi trilogy can still be credibilily seen as one story. Yeah, by the third one the studio is demanding more villains and interfering, but it still feels the same. I see it on a very basic level as the story of three young people and their complicated relationship as friends, lovers, and enemies, with an ultimately redemptive arc, and it works.
