This scene is one of the most retarded ones in the entire "series".

Anakin was glazed entire episode as the chosen one, he won every duel with Obi when they trained. But somehow managed to lose limbs to him and then later in Rogue One he got clapped again. That's ridiculous.

Also. I hate to say it. But (gay)AI did a better job at their final duel than Lucas did.

if you've ever played in FPS games and gotten good at them, you'd quickly learn jumping is a dog shit strategy. when you jump you're pretty much locking yourself into a very obvious path and landing point for anybody that's watching, at least anybody who knows what they're doing.

anakin's force jump took what, 2 seconds, 3? and a jedi can already see a couple seconds into the future? he might as well have just stood there and let his limbs get chopped off at that rate. obi wan had more than enough time to figure out exactly what he was doing, where he was going, how fast he was going, and where he'd ultimately end up

and all the while you're up in the air with no way to change direction, defend yourself, or feint/switch up. it was a rookie move and he got punished for it hard

I don't hate the prequels, but pretty much every battle in this movie was disappointing. They never reached the peak that was Maul vs Obi Wan and Qui Gon. Worse, they were actually very anticlimactic.

Anakin and Obi Wan vs Dooku - nothin special, too short
Obi Wan vs Grievous - bad
Sidious vs Jedi and Windu - awful.
Sidious vs Yoda - mediocre, too goofy
Obi Wan vs Anakin - good, but with disappointing finale

Vader getting crippled stopped him from ever reaching his full potential, which was greater than Palpatine for sure. Palps even says it himself in the movie to Yoda - "vader will become stronger than both of us"

That's why palpatine was so pissed off about the whole situation. His perfect successor that he'd groomed to become the most powerful beign in history got reduced to a fraction of what he should be trapped in an iron lung
However, even crippled, Vader was still the strongest guy he could possibly find to be his #2. So he was stuck with him, and Vader was stuck with Palps too because he had literally nothing else to live for.

A rule of 2 where the pupil can never surpass the master, definitely not ideal. That's why Palps jumped at Luke immediately to replace Vader

The exact figure of Vader only being 80% of Palpatine's strength supposedly comes from George Lucas himself but I've never seen it properly sourced

Vader tries to turn Luke to the dark side during their duel but Luke doesn't play ball, so he keeps trying to the point he almost dies, because he knew he needed Luke's help to kill the emperor. He couldn't just ask luke to help him no biggy because Luke would still remain a good kid and maybe even job Vader after both of them finished Sheev, that's if even both of them survived a direct obvious assault against Sheev.
