personally i've been drawn to the idea myself. but for logical and pragmatic reasons. for example, if there is some very useful technology in a western country, and you became well versed in its application. well then you could go to the middle east and apply it there, where they have a lot of investment capital and want to build things while they still can. "untapped potential" and unfortunately for them a lot of their "best" minds have fled to the west and etc. its basically a way to practice reverse brain drain. rather than a smart person fleeing their country to a better country. a smart person goes to a worse country, and tries to improve it by applying fixes. the reward is, the society is much more lax and chill, and if you are genuinely motivated to help, no one has any reason but to be appreciative.
