That's not true. It's closer to 80%. Yes, there's a lot of shit, but there's plenty that have succeeded both commercially and critically

That's true about most things. Most businesses fail; a few are massively successful. Most writers are either failures or moderate successes that'll spend their lives churning out pulp they're not passionate about because that's what's paying the rent; a few become super rich and successful.

The 80s and 90s had lots of gag and parody movies that are still very popular today, like Naked Gun, Hot Shots, Top Secret, Loaded Weapon 1 etc.

It's in the 2000s they got a bad reputation with shit like Epic Movie, Disaster Movie and endless Scary Movie sequels that kept getting worse.
