Destiny just made me sad by killing off his son, making him bumble around and having his replacement outstage him. They did the same thing to Han Solo. Fuck Disney

Bro. It was good. It did the old Indy well, we got 50s vibe with aliens. It was a sincere and not subversive. I like it.

not him but i remember watching skull in the theatre and enjoying it. it wasnt until the south park ep that i realised the hate around it. I was a teen at the time tho and its special memory. watching it afterward i can see why with the action undercut by digital fuckery and the whole thing feeling cluttered. they really should have had an artifact which emphasised the father son relationship (excalibur?)

There's something really depressing about making a film about the protagonist being a miserable old man. Sometimes it's just better to imagine what their lives would be like after the movies than actually see it.

The Great Circle and Fate of Atlantis is how you make a sequel.

To answer the question, 4 obviously. 5 only had one redeeming factor, the antikythera device. They covered up time travel is real. Time doesn't exist. The antikythera helps to track our year over millenia. The trick, the reason for the weird 500 year gap in history is that the stars are like a record and the record skipped. The skipping record makes time untrackable. We seem to jump from one time to another 50 or 100 years later because the stars are in the wrong position.

Yeah. Watching Han Solo in the Force Awakens wearing the same clothes and in the same profession was like seeing a high school football star wearing the same outfit as an old paunchy man. Now both Han Solo and Jones have no kids and to an extent no legacy or happy ending.

What I wanted was a fun lighthearted adventure for Indiana Jones, while he was still teaching. Why does everything have to be so dark?

>He does not need the money
His family does. This garbage will feed his great-grandchildren and then some if invested properly. 'Why does someone need MORE millions?' is such a silly question.

It's weird how studios refuse to acknowledge this.
At 80 Indy should be a prestigious retired or semi-retired professional in his field, wearing suits and giving presentations at Museum exhibit openings or consultations for history books. He's not a playboy who refused to grow up. Same with Han Solo, he should have at least grown into SOMETHING more than the sleazy guy sitting in the dark corner of a dive bar. Keeping them the same just nullifies any and all prior character development and turns them into a joke.

What artifacts should have been the focus of the sequels
There are some famous swords from Japan. I think a fish out of water story set in Japan would have been fun. It would have been easy to fuck up but it could be a reason to reunite Indy with shortround. I suppose you could make up some Chinese treasure have him explore the country too.

I think the beginning of Dial of Destiny was fine, even though it was still incredibly grim.

Dial would be decent if it was:
Cut it down by like 30 min
Phoebe’s character was less cringe
The brown kid was replaced with literally anybody else

Skull was bad and I never watched Dial so I couldn't really tell you. I did see the train fight and it looked terrible.
Anonymous No.214054283
i prefer Skull but it has both Marion and a son for Indy but does nothing interesting with them. Marion is swooning for Indy within 5 mins and his son doesnt really have much of a dynamic with him other than doing sillier action scenes. That being said, its better to see Indy getting married and having a child than an old man who has nothing left.

Anonymous No.214055834
Dial of Destiny owes more to Last Crusade than any other Indy film. To some people its the best but i prefer the scrappy indy from the first two. Crusade is him maturing and dealing with something more interpersonal. Destiny tried to follow that structure but with a soft reboot all you will get is soft storylines. Spielberg is also a better director and has more visual gags and ideas in Crusade than Destiny which has about 5% of if that.

Both movies are competently made but bland and forgettable. I guess Skull has an edge because the 50s diner scene and subsequent action setpiece are good, and that's the only part I can remember to have liked in either movie.
