No, he wasn't.
He was given time-travelling powers brought by the Omega Sanction. That's why he's able to see the future.
He would die in the third movie, killed by Darkseid, but then the ending credits would show him waking up in the medieval times without his memories. Snyder also was planning on never following up on that.

Apparently this guy shown in ZSJL during the flashback depicting the dawn of mankind is Ben Affleck's Batman.

He'd basically help Wonder Woman's mom, proto-King Arthur, and Orin, the Atlantean king, to form a medieval version of the Justice League that would eventually become capable of originally thwarting Darkseid first invasion.

Damn this is actually a bad lost. That would have been an great Batman film. Brue Wayne fighting through different time periods trying to get back. Instead we gotta settle with Gunn DCU trash. A time travel movie with Bruce Wayne would have been kino. This is why Snyder was so much better than Gunn he had actual good plans.

I think Snyder Cut waspretty good. But I also think the only reason it's good is because he had the benefit of learning from the failure and audience feedback of the original release

The Snydercut was made before the theatrical reshoots, though.
Every scene written and shot was made back in 2016.
It was Josh Whedon that had the benefit of having feedback.
The only thing new Snyder added, which wasn't originally made far back then, were the scenes in the future with Joker, and he added this mostly to fuck with WB.
Basically a tease and middle finger showing all the plans he could never materialize back then.

Also, the Russo brothers told Zack Snyder that Kevin Feige was privy to his storyboards and ideas, and that they, the Russos, used some of his ideas for their own films. Snyder was cool with it.

Snyder has visionary plans with interesting ideas, true.

But he's also repeatedly shown that he is unable to write or direct a film connecting these ideas into a coherent whole that resonates with a larger audience.

Ideally he should go back to making smaller auteur films with scripts written by someone else, but his cult following is too large.
